SWP Calculator User Guide

Introduction:

The SWP (Systematic Withdrawal Plan) Calculator helps you plan your withdrawals from an investment corpus over time. You can use it to calculate regular withdrawals, determine the maximum withdrawal amount to ensure funds last, and estimate how long your funds will last based on your inputs.

Instructions:

  1. Principal Amount:
    • Enter the initial amount of money you have invested.
    • Example: If you have invested $100,000, input 100000.
  2. Annual Interest Rate (%):
    • Enter the annual interest rate of your investment.
    • Example: If your investment earns 5% per year, input 5.
  3. Monthly Withdrawal Amount:
    • Enter the amount you plan to withdraw each month.
    • Example: If you plan to withdraw $1,000 each month, input 1000.
  4. Years Planned (optional):
    • Enter the number of years you plan to make withdrawals. This field is optional; if you leave it blank, the calculator will assume a maximum duration of 50 years.
    • Example: If you plan to withdraw for 10 years, input 10.
  5. Calculation Type:
    • Regular SWP Calculation: Calculates how long your funds will last with the current withdrawal amount and interest rate.
    • Calculate Max Withdrawal: Determines the maximum amount you can withdraw each month without depleting your funds.
    • Choose the type of calculation from the dropdown menu.
  6. Calculate Button:
    • Click the Calculate button to perform the calculations based on your inputs.

Example Calculation:

Let’s say you have invested $150,000 with an annual interest rate of 4%. You plan to withdraw $1,200 each month and want to check how long your funds will last. Here’s how you’d use the calculator:

  1. Principal Amount: Enter 150000.
  2. Annual Interest Rate (%): Enter 4.
  3. Monthly Withdrawal Amount: Enter 1200.
  4. Years Planned (optional): Leave this blank (or enter a specific number if you have a particular duration in mind).
  5. Calculation Type: Select Regular SWP Calculation from the dropdown menu.
  6. Click the Calculate button.

The result will display how long your funds will last based on the provided inputs and whether there will be any remaining corpus after the specified duration (if entered).
